Prime Minister Narendra Modi was presented with many awards and honours in 2024 for his work in strengthening ties between India and respective countries. The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle
President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, conferred Russia’s highest national award, “The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle,” on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his contribution to fostering India-Russia ties. This award was instituted over 300 years ago. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is the first Indian leader to be conferred with this award. While accepting the award, the Prime Minister dedicated it to the people of India and the traditional bonds of friendship between India and Russia. He further stated that the recognition illuminates the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
Grand Commander of the Order of Niger
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for his statesmanship and stellar contribution to fostering India-Nigeria ties, was conferred the national award – “Grand Commander of the Order of Niger.” The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, conferred the award. The award citation notes that under the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership, India has been positioned as a global powerhouse, and his transformative governance has fostered unity, peace and shared prosperity for all.
While accepting the award, the Prime Minister dedicated the honour to the people of India and the longstanding, historical friendship between India and Nigeria. He further stated that the recognition underscores the Strategic Partnership between the two countries and their shared commitment to the aspirations of the Global South.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is the first foreign leader to be conferred with this award since 1969.
Order of the Druk Gyalpo
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Bhutan’s highest civilian award, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, in March 2024. He is the first foreign head of Government to be honoured with this award. It is an acknowledgement of his invaluable contributions to strengthening India-Bhutan relations.
Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados
In 2024, PM Modi was awarded the Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados. In his social media platform X, PM Modi said,” I am grateful to the Government and people of Barbados for conferring the Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados Award. This honour is dedicated to the people of India.”
Guyana’s Order of Excellence
PM Modi’s contributions during the pandemic and his leadership in fostering ties with the Caribbean Island were recognised by Guyana. He was presented with the country’s Order of Excellence by the President of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, in 2024.
Dominica Award of Honour
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, for his statesmanship and support to Dominica during the Covid-19 pandemic and his commitment to strengthening India and Dominica ties, was conferred the highest National Award-”Dominica Award of Honour”.
Prime Minister dedicated the honour to the people of India and to the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties between India and Dominica. He expressed confidence that the bilateral bond between the two nations will continue to grow and deepen in the years ahead.
